Common issues

Trade hold: After adding a number, the market and trading are temporarily restricted. That is Steam's rule and has nothing to do with the type of number.
The code is slow: If the operator queue is busy the SMS can take a few minutes. Do not request a second code before the timer ends.
I cannot receive later codes: The number is single-use and returns to the pool. If you will need recovery SMS messages, use your own line.

Does Steam accept virtual numbers?

Is it enough for the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator?

The mobile authenticator needs a device with the Steam mobile app and confirms the setup by SMS.
